What is Sujok

An alternative therapy, Sujok is a brilliant discovery by the Korean scientist, Prof. Park Jae Woo. After many years of careful observation and clinical experience, Prof. Jae Woo developed a new system of therapy; treating only the hands and the feet to effect the same results as treating the whole body. He found a complete system representing the whole body on the hands and the feet. In Korean, su means “hand,” and jok means “foot.” The advantage of this system is its simplicity, safety and efficiency.

How does Sujok work

As per the basic principle of the therapy, energy - the life force is constantly flowing in the universe. The human body is a tiny and well harmonized unit in itself with the same energy flowing through it and exists in the universe as an integral as well as independent phenomenon.  A disease occurs in the human body if this energy flow becomes excess or deficient, gets impeded or counter-flows due to various external or internal factors and the basic principle of Sujok is to cure diseases by restoring the imbalance of energy flow in the human body.

Sujok is a general term describing a new system of treatment, comprising a variety of methods of stimulating only the hands and feet using the fingers, a rounded object, seeds or other material.

Advanced Sujok uses needles to balance the energy and it is called Six Ki treatment which harmonizes energy on the physical, emotional and even the Chakra plane.

Sujok therapy works at two levels. “It works on the physical level and the other on the metaphysical level. The best part of Sujok is that, unlike other acupressure and acupuncture therapies, where one requires to learn the corresponding nerve points and then practice under professional guidance. In Sujok therapy all the nerve points of the body are located specifically on the hands and feet. The most important aspect to note is that all these points are located on both hands and feet so that the entire treatment can be done by locating the points on just one hand or foot.

One also does not need to learn where each point is located once you understand the basic corresponding points to the body. A highly effective and preventive method of healing. It has no side effects. Sujok is useful on both the physical and emotional level. You can take responsibility of your health, anytime and anyplace.

After a particular time of working at one’s own skills, it takes a few seconds to identify the problematic point. In fact having tried a number of experiments, we have seen that Sujok therapy is accurate and highly effective. Especially, if a health problem is of recent origin, say a stomach ache, pain due to a recent accident or sprain, Sujok gives virtually instant relief.

Where Spinal Cord and other chronic problems are concerned, Sujok, if done regularly and consistently, it certainly gives relief. It seems very likely too that if both basic Sujok and the advanced version i.e. acupressure and acupuncture are combined miracles take place.

SUJOK: A brief overview of the system

If we carefully analyze, we will be surprised to see that the hands and feet resemble our body and this similarity was first observed by Prof. Park Jae Woo. He discovered that our hands and feet carry information of the body in strict anatomical order, reflecting the structure of the human body in miniature form on hands and feet and this can be used most logically, conveniently, and effectively as remote controls for restoration of health and prevention of diseases of various origin and pathologies.

SUJOK is a multi-dimensional healing system that works on the physical and the metaphysical levels. The first dimension is a physical healing system, whereby giving simple stimulation to the specific corresponding points in the hands and the feet, cure is achieved. This is possible because hands as a miniature correspondence treatment system is the most identical part of the human body in structural similarity among all the corresponding systems. Similarly, as the feet resemble the hands in their structure, they also represent the most potent and effective miniature body correspondence system.

The second dimension of treatment is a metaphysical healing system. This form of treatment applies the theories and experiences of classical acupuncture like the five element theory, yin yang principle along with the new theories of Sujok such as Sujok Ki, Six Ki, Zone Sujok Ki, Triorigin etc.

Mode of Treatment

As discussed above, applying the correspondence system, ‘acu’ points on hands and feet can be identified and stimulated or activated in various ways. Among the many materials used for the treatment are –

• Small micro-needles
• Natural seeds (good for children and infants)
